School CCTV Installation at Limehurst Academy
After receiving a number of positive recommendations from other schools, the Academy approached AIS Security to help implement improvements to the sites security. The campus is spread out over a number of buildings, and based on our preliminary survey of the site; we determined that there was an initial requirement for approximately 20 cameras to provide coverage of the key areas. As part of the brief, we were advised that system must have some spare capacity to enable additional cameras to be installed in the future.
As a result of our initial survey, we recommended the installation of an up-to-date IP CCTV system. This would result in the best possible image quality, and allow the system to be installed in a modular way. With multi-building sites this is the neatest approach, and considerably reduces the amount of cabling required.
The initial installation was broken down into 3 zones. Each zone consisted of a POE switch and a number of cameras. The cameras in each zone were wired back to the appropriate switch and then a single network connection from each zone was established back to the recording unit (located in the server room). This was implemented using fibre optic cable to ensure maximum speed and reliability.
AIS initially installed a 32 channel, rack mounted Network Video with 24TB of data storage.
The CCTV cameras used in this installation are 4MP turret cameras with a wide dynamic range (this is double HD quality). These cameras provide excellent performance across a variety of different lighting conditions. The standard cameras have inbuilt IR and can see in the dark for 25M. Each camera can be set to have 'privacy masking' which blocks out footage from sensitive areas.
Shortly after the initial installation, AIS were invited back to expand the system to 54 cameras.
In addition to this, AIS have now installed a "state of the art" Biometric access control system which controls and monitors the movement of both Teachers and Pupils in key areas of the campus. Doors are now opened using a sophisticated fingerprint recognition system and / or door entry fobs.
AIS continue to support and maintain the system under an annual maintenance contract.
